You’ve heard of the slow food movement. This is slow fashion.

Rahul Mishra presented his sophomore collection, “The Village,” at Paris Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2015. The ready-to-wear collection continues with themes from his Spring/Summer collection; a showcase of embroidery techniques using wool on jackets, dresses, and shirts – juxtaposed with sheer panels.

The designer takes his inspiration from the villages of the world as well as images of the village where he grew up. The white sweatshirt featuring a village created in intricate black embroidery is a standout piece from the collection, as is the white shift dress embroidered with white wool, and the black dress embroidered with black wool.

We like that Rahul Mishra uses fibres, weaves and craft techniques practiced in villages across the world, with a focus on producing slow fashion. This collection uses wool extracted in Gurrundah, a village in New South Wales Southern Tablelands, Sydney, which finds shape and form in a remote village Baundpur near Calcutta.
